One of my favourite gem species. Spinel.
Often in ancient times considered as ruby (the famous Black Prince's Ruby in the Imperial State Crown is a huge spinel).
This fine example is 0.93 carats, cushion shape mixed cut, measuring 6.0 x 5.8 mm. Of pinkish red hue, vivid saturation, the gem originates from Mogok, Burma and has been in my collection for years.
